At Dallas College, we provide a variety of schedules for ESOL classes. We offer ESOL:
- in person at five different Dallas College campuses (Brookhaven, Eastfield, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland);
- online for intermediate and advanced classes only;
- during Fall, Spring and Summer semesters;
- over eight- and 16-week courses in Fall and Spring; over five-, eight- and 10-week courses in summer;
- in the morning, afternoon, and evening—and sometimes on weekends.
To get started with ESOL classes, you'll need to take an English placement test, then follow-up with an academic advisor.
Note: If you are an international (F1) student, you will be required to take at least nine credit hours during each 16-week (Fall or Spring) semester.
Tuition
If you study ESOL with us, how much will you pay in tuition?
That depends on your residency status—whether you are an in-county, out-of-district, or out-of-country student. Read more about tuition at Dallas College.
It also depends on the number of semester credit hours you take, which, in turn, depends on the number and type of ESOL classes that you take.

Other Costs
If you participate in our
IncludED program (as almost all students do), you will not pay extra for textbooks or other course materials. All of this will be included in your tuition.
By paying tuition, you will also have free access to other resources and support, including (but not limited to) success coaching, tutoring, psychological counseling, assistance with finding an apartment and/or roommate, child care (at some locations), the loan of a laptop, and a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) pass.
Please keep in mind that you will be responsible for covering housing, food and other personal expenses.
Program Outcomes
Upon exiting from our ESOL program, you will have many options, including:
- enrolling in a university and completing a bachelor's degree;
- staying at Dallas College to complete required "core" (general education) courses and then transferring to a university to finish your bachelor's degree;
- staying at Dallas College to earn a certificate, associate degree or bachelor's degree.
