Richland campus TRIO Student Support Services offers a variety of free support services including:
Individualized Academic Advisement & Registration
Richland TRIO Student Support Services Program Services Coordinators assist participants in planning a personalized class schedule each semester. Part of the advising process is to help participants gather information about universities as well as determine which classes will be transferred.
Financial Aid Counseling
Richland TRIO Student Support Services provides financial advising to participants. Some of these services include money management, assistance in reapplying for federal financial aid and applying for endowment scholarships and answering a variety of questions regarding their financial aid award and assistance with loans and grants.
University Transfer Advising
Richland TRIO Student Support Services program provides participants the opportunity to obtain information as well as to meet with college/university representatives concerning course transferability, university programs/degrees, and the transfer process. Some of these services include Access information about colleges/universities and meetings with college/university representatives by appointment.
Private Computer Lab
Our computer lab is a service for TRIO Student Support Services students only. It offers the Internet, e-mail access, online assessment/workshops, along with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software. Sign-in is required for usage and printing. A lab attendance is available to assist TRIO students.
Finish the Race Workshops
In partnership with Richland's Learning Center, specialized study skills workshops are facilitated to broaden participants' study skills and resources. Some of these workshops include time management and goal setting, test taking, memory techniques, stress management and relaxation techniques, and preparing for final exams.
Career Exploration & Planning
The TRIO SSS project in partnership with Career Services will provide career related services to program participants. Some of these services include:
- Computer guidance programs
- Computer-assisted job bank system
- Occupational/Industry video tapes and CD-ROM
- Resume writing and cover letter assistance
- Career service resume database
- Mock digitally-recorded interviews
- Computers for employment search
- Employer on-campus student recruitment, class presentations, and center tours
Universities Field Trip and Campus Visit
In partnership with Richland Transfer Center, several university field trips are offered during the year. Participants will have the opportunity to tour the campuses and talk with campus representatives.
