The Mountain View TRIO (SSS) program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education to provide services to first generation and low-income students to help them be successful in college while pursuing an academic degree and/or certificate.
We also provide services to qualified students with disabilities.
Mission Statement
TRIO-Student Support Services promotes self reliance and empowerment through our academic support and individual guidance for students pursuing an associate degree and successfully transferring to a four-year college or university.
What is TRIO SSS?
TRIO- Student Support Services (SSS) program is one of three TRIO programs originally funded under the Higher Education Act of 1965, with the objective of helping students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to complete their college education. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, SSS is committed to helping low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities receive a bachelor’s degree.
Mountain View TRIO (SSS) program was first funded in 2001 and annually provides individual and group services to 230 program-eligible students. TRIO (SSS) services are provided at no cost to program participants. Students participate in TRIO (SSS) throughout their enrollment at Mountain View.

TRIO (SSS) FAQs
TRIO SSS accepts applications throughout the year. TRIO is funded to serve only 230 students. We work on a first-come-first-serve policy. (Note: Some students may be put on a waiting list.)
Students accepted into the program may complete a tutor request form in the TRIO office.
We do not offer scholarships. However, we do conduct workshops on how to search and apply for scholarships. The office staff also assists students by writing recommendation letters. On occasion, when the U.S. Department of Education offers the program additional funding, we are able to provide grant aid scholarships for qualifying students.
Yes! We encourage students to take advantage of as many resources on campus as possible.
TRIO-SSS is a federal program funded by the United States Department of Education. Because funding is provided by the federal government, students are required to be a U.S. citizen, or a legal resident.
