Cohorts allow faculty to work together to quickly identify students needing additional assistance before they are too far off track. Cohorts also allow Learning Framework faculty to use examples and reminders in class to reinforce and apply skills they are learning in their English/DWRI course. I like that we bring services to Ascender students such as advising, tutoring, career and transfer rather than depending on students in their first semester to search out these resources outside of class. Once students recognize how these services can help them be successful and stay motivated, they are more comfortable turning to these advisors their second semester when they feel more confident and a part of the college.”
