Garland Depot

Built in 1901, this Santa Fe depot serves as a museum of Garland and north Texas history, and a home to the Garland Landmark Society. In addition to touring the depot, we’ll get a glimpse inside the Society’s 1911 (unrestored) Pullman railcar.

Crow Museum

March 15, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. and arrival at 11:15 a.m.

Location: Campus of the University of Texas at Dallas in the (also new) Edith and Peter O'Donnell Athenaeum.

Founded in 1998, the Crow Museum of Asian Art inspires and promotes learning and dialogue about the arts and cultures of Asia through its exhibitions, the research and preservation of its collections, artistic and educational programming, and visitor experience and engagement. This museum also features permanent and traveling exhibitions, a sculpture garden, and a library as it celebrates the arts and cultures of Asia – from ancient eras to contemporary times – through a variety of permanent and traveling exhibitions that showcase the arts of a multitude of countries. With an array of beautiful spaces and galleries, the Museum offers a serene setting for quiet reflection.

Enjoy a gourmet lunch of Southern cuisine prepared and served by the students in the award-winning culinary program at El Centro Campus with choices for the first course, entrée selection, and dessert. You may make your selection on the registration form in your 2025 Spring Retiree Newsletter.

The Biblical Museum of Arts

Friday, April 11, 2025, 11 a.m.

If interested in attending, contact Cassandra, cost $18 for senior citizens, $10 for audio tours, parking is free. Followed by lunch at Keke’s Breakfast Café.

The museum was founded in 1967 by Mattie Caruth Byrd. It was formerly known as the Biblical Arts Center. In 2005, a fire destroyed the museum and 2,500 works of art. The museum was rebuilt and reopened in 2010 in a modern building with eleven galleries and 30,000 square feet of exhibition and event space.

The Titanic Exhibition

Cost: Seniors (65+) are $23 and $10 to purchase an audio guide or the virtual reality experience.

Retirees will embark on the Titanic voyage with the re-creation of the ship’s interior and exterior. Visit the dock from where the ship sailed, explore the galleries and boiler room, look inside the millionaire’s suite, stroll the exterior promenade deck under a starry night sky, and see the Grand Staircase with your own eyes. Read the stories of its passengers, see hundreds of artifacts, and discover the tale of the design, creation, launch, maiden voyage, and tragedy of the historic ship.

Take part in one of the state's best Lifelong Learning Programs! The Dallas College Lifelong Learning program is designed for community members 55 years of age and older who want to stay mentally sharp, physically fit, become more technology savvy, attend interesting lectures of current events, take short excursions and much more. Students 65 years of age and older are eligible for tuition waivers.
