Degrees and Certificates

The Dental Hygiene Associate of Applied Science degree program prepares students for licensure through two academic years of coursework after successful completion of all prerequisite courses. Students must successfully complete all 68 hours of coursework.

Upon completion of coursework, students will take two national board examinations to be eligible for licensure in their respective state.

  • National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) is a didactic examination administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations.
  • Regional clinical board that is administered on-site at Dallas College is the ADEX exam delivered by CDCA-WREB-CITA.

​Length of time is based on catalog degree plans. Prerequisites may be required, which are not included in this estimate. For most programs, full-time student status is assumed, a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

 

Cost is based on tuition rates for program hours for Dallas County residents. Beginning in Fall 2020, the price of most required learning materials (books, software, supplies, etc.) will be included​ with the price of tuition. Find out about financial aid.
