Dallas College Policies for Military Students
Fees and Charges Not Covered by Tuition Assistance (TA)/MyCAA
Army, Airforce, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard Tuition Assistance (TA) and My Career Advancement Scholarship Program (MyCAA) only cover mandatory standard tuition charges. A portion of Dallas College tuition ($20 per credit hour) covers the cost of required books and learning materials through the IncludED program. TA and MyCAA benefits do not pay for IncludED program charges. Each student is responsible for opting out of the IncludED program or paying the amount associated with learning materials. Additional information is available on the
IncludED webpage.
Military Tuition Assistance Refund Policy
Army, Airforce, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard Tuition Assistance (TA) is awarded to a student under the assumption the student will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. When a student officially withdraws, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of TA funds originally awarded. To comply with the Department of Defense (DOD) policy, Dallas College will return any unearned TA funds to the military service, not to the service member. The full policy can be found on the
Dallas College Military TA Refund Policy webpage.
If a service member stops attending due to a military service obligation, Dallas College will work with the affected service member to identify solutions that will not result in a student debt for the returned portion in compliance with DOD policy.
Readmission of Service Members
Service members who cannot attend school because of military service may be entitled to relief from academic or financial requirements. Please review the entire policy at the
Excused Absence for Military Personnel Called to Active Duty in the Dallas College catalog.
Speak with
admissions about getting a course extension if you are unable to complete any work for a class because of a military obligation.
