The Student Rights and Responsibilities Office (SRRO) at Dallas College has a philosophy of Restorative Justice. This philosophy allows us to take incidents that might otherwise result in punitive punishments and find opportunities, when possible, for students to recognize the impact of their behavior, take responsibility for their actions and make steps towards making things right. Dedicated staff in the SRRO work with students to reflect on their choices and to grow in their personal understanding of responsibilities and privileges. This process happens through conversations, administrative actions and/or sanctions which provide individual attention and care for the well-being of students in the Dallas College community.
As a student at Dallas College, you are considered a responsible adult and member of our community. Your enrollment at Dallas College indicates acceptance of the Student Code of Conduct.
The Student Code of Conduct is a shared statement of our commitment to upholding the ethical, professional and legal standards we use as the basis for our daily and long-term decisions and actions. We all must be aware of — and comply with — the relevant policies, standards, laws and regulations that guide our work.
We are all individually accountable for our own actions and, as members of the Dallas College community, are collectively accountable for upholding these standards of behavior and complying with all applicable laws and policies.

FM (LOCAL) - Discipline and Penalties
- Student conduct complaint received
- Student Conduct Officer (SCO) provides notice to student of alleged conduct violation
- SCO conducts investigation, and if sufficient, conducts an administrative conference with the student, and renders a decision.
- Student
accepts or
disputes decision (findings and sanctions)
- If the student agrees and accepts, then the resolution is documented and the matter is closed
- If the student disagrees with, refuses and/or disputes the decision and/or sanction, and the sanction is less than suspension/expulsion, the student may appeal the decision to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Success or designee.
- If the student disagrees, refuses and/or disputes the decision and/or sanction, and the sanction includes a suspension/expulsion, the student has a right to a hearing with a Hearing Committee.

FMA (LOCAL) - Discipline Procedures
- If the student disagrees with, refuses and/or disputes an administrative disposition, and the sanction may result in a suspension or expulsion, the student has a right to a hearing with a Hearing Committee. To view the full procedures related to the Hearing Committee process, view the

- A three-person Hearing Committee is established.
- A hearing notice is sent to student.
- Hearing is held and student is provided the opportunity to share their side of the story with the committee
- The Committee reviews all evidence and renders a decision of responsibility, and determines the appropriate sanction(s) if found responsible.
- If the student disagrees with the Hearing Committee’s decision, the student may submit, in writing, a petition for administrative review to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Success (AVCSS) or designee. The petition must be submitted to the AVCSS or designee no later than five (5) business days after the student has received notice of the decision from the Hearing Committee.
- If a petition is submitted, the AVCSS will make a decision as outlined the “Petition for Administrative Review” section of
Dallas College Policy FMA(LOCAL) Discipline Procedure.
Sanctions are designed to promote the College’s educational mission and enhance the safety of the College District environment as well as include developmental and restorative activities related to specific acts of misconduct. Sanctions considers a student’s learning style and stage of development, as well as the unique factors of a given situation. The following sanctions may be imposed upon any student found responsible for violation of the Student Code of Conduct:
- Written Warning
- Probation
- Grade
- Loss of privilege/restriction
- Restitution
- Reflective activity
- Reflective workshop
- Life skills coaching
- Counseling
- Deferred suspension
- Suspension
- Suspension of eligibility
- Removal from program of study
A student who disagrees or does not accept the conduct decision must submit the
Request an Appeal Form within five (5) business days after receipt of the decision. Sanctions shall not be imposed while the review is pending.
As a college student, you are considered a responsible adult. Your enrollment indicates acceptance of the Code of Student Conduct which is applicable to every student enrolled at Dallas College.

Members of Dallas College may report an alleged violation of the Code of Student Conduct through the Dallas College Code of
Student Conduct Referral Form. All submitted forms are reviewed by the Office of Student Advocacy and evaluated if action should need to be taken.
