(DALLAS) — The stereotype that women don’t belong in construction or auto shops is changing fast, and Dallas College is proud to help shape the narrative as more women pursue gray-collar jobs — combining physical and technical skills.

As part of our Women’s History Month celebration in March, Dallas College is continuing its “Courageous Conversations” series with a panel discussion featuring Dallas College instructors: Mary Conger (construction faculty) and Samantha Candler (automotive faculty). “Women Advancing Roles in Gray-Collar Jobs” will be held Thursday, March 20, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Dallas College Brookhaven Campus, Building S, Room S220. Panelists will talk about how they got into their respective fields, their experiences, and what the future looks like for women.

Dallas College will host several other events throughout the month to celebrate Women’s History Month, including a panel discussion led by Dallas College Trustee Monica Lira Bravo. Walking in Her Shoes: Accelerate Action will be held Tuesday, March 25, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Dallas College Eastfield Campus, Building B, Room B1041/1042 (Multipurpose Room).

Local leaders will talk about the hurdles and successes they’ve experienced as accomplished women in the community. This event is open to students, employees and the community. Lunch will be provided to those who register to attend in person. Please RSVP to attend in person or join this event virtually. For a complete list of events, visit DallasCollege.edu/WomensHistory.
