(DALLAS) — The 2024 Women’s Empowerment Leadership Conference is among the signature events Dallas College has planned for its annual celebration of Women’s History Month in March. This year’s keynote speaker is Judge Vonda Bailey Shaw, who is not only an alumna of Dallas College but is also a family court judge in Dallas County.
Shaw grew up in Oak Cliff and has undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington. After working as a probation officer, she enrolled at Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, where she received her law degree.
Dr. Stephanie Hill, Dallas College associate vice chancellor for student life and engagement and student success, will welcome guests.
“Women’s history month honors not only trailblazers in business, sports, education and other fields but pays tribute to all women,” said Dr. Hill. “Dallas College, in capturing the spirit of these innovators, recognizes all of their stories as well as the impact of their legacies.”

As part of Dallas College’s Civil Rights Speaker Series, North Lake Campus will present “Women in Technology: Opening Doors, Igniting Potential.”
Dr. Christa Slejko, North Lake Campus president, will host a panel that includes Ronda Hayes, an IT specialist and professor at Dallas College; Dr. Pamela Luckett, Dallas College’s chief digital engagement officer; and Shanee’ Moore, senior director of campus administration at Dallas College. The event takes place Wednesday, March 27, from 12:30-1:45 p.m., North Lake Campus, Building G, Room G-401.
Other notable events at Dallas College include a kickoff celebration on March 5 with trivia games, inspirational letter writing and an exhibit that offers opportunities to learn about trailblazing women in Texas. This celebration will be held simultaneously at Brookhaven and Mountain View campuses. Kickoff celebrations at other Dallas College campuses take place on March 6, 7 and 8. For details, visit the
Women’s History Month webpage.
