Welcome to Dallas College and thanks for letting us be a part of your academic journey. Now, let’s get you ready to become a Dual Credit student.
Ok… Logging on. Let’s get this Dual Credit Admissions Application started! First things first, go to www.dallascollege.edu and click ‘Apply Now’ in the top right of the homepage. On this page, as Dual Credit Student, you will click the blue bar that reads “International, Dual Credit/High School and Continuing Education (CE) Students Start Here”.
Then on the next page, you will choose ‘new dual credit student’ to answer the question ‘What type of student are you?’ From the “How to Enroll in the Dual Credit Program” page, you will select ‘Application for Admission,’ and then fill in your information.
When creating your account, everything with a red asterisk is required. Make sure you are using your LEGAL first and last name and an email you check regularly. If you do not have an email or if your email is an iCloud account, you will need to create a new one. Next, you will choose a residency option, followed by on what basis you seek admissions. If this section is giving you trouble, don’t hesitate to contact your high school counselor. The last part of creating your account is choosing a username and password, then proving you are not a robot. This username and password combo will only be used for this application.
To continue, you will retrieve an activation code from the email you just entered, prove you’re not a robot again, and activate your account. Now you have officially arrived at the Admissions Application. There are 5 pages and you may save and exit at any time during the application process. To log back in later, or in the event of a disconnection, use the password and username you just created. If you didn’t write it down, check the email you just used associated with this application account.
Alright, let’s begin. On the first page of the of the Admissions application, you will outline your college plans and Biographical information. In the College Plans section, you will provide what semester you will be taking classes, your reason for attending Dallas College, your first choice of school, your first choice of major, and how you intend to take your courses. You'll also let us know if you are interested in applying to the Texas A&M Chevron Engineering Academy, if you have ever applied and/or attended any of the campuses of Dallas College, and if you have plans to transfer to East Texas A&M University after earning an associate degree.
Next, in Part A, you'll provide biographical information like your social security number, date of birth, physical address, and place of birth. This information is essential to add to determine your residency status accurately. Then you will share how you identify yourself, as well as your primary language, followed by information about your citizenship, military-veteran status, and an emergency contact. One page down, 4 more to go.
On Page 2 of the admissions application, you will continue to provide your biographical information. Dual Credit student applicants should choose "I am or will be a High School Graduate" for "which of the following best describes your high school education?" And then, enter your estimated graduation year. Next, choose the options that best describe your high school. And then provide information on any relevant previous college experience. In the last section on this page, you will review the choices and find the option that best applies to you, then… Boop… proceed to page 3.
From here, you will complete Parts B, C, D, and E. In Part B, you will provide information on previous enrollment at a public college or university in Texas. As a dual credit student, you will probably answer "no" to this question and skip to Part C, but if you have attended another Texas public institution in the past 12 months, you will need to provide some more information.
Then in Part C, if you're not a Texas resident, you will need to provide some additional info. BUT most Dual Credit students are, so you'll probably answer 'Yes', and proceed to Part D, where you answer a few more questions that will help identify your residency status. And finally, if you answered yes to the questions in Part D, you'll zoom past Part E, save, and continue to Page 4. Getting close!
Alright, so Page 4 is needed if you were not able to establish your Texas residency on page 3. If you were, Parts F and G should be grayed out and you may proceed to the final page of the Admissions Application. On Page 5, you will leave additional comments if necessary, and review some final information. Pay special attention to Part K: Certification of Information.
When you check the electric signature box, you are certifying you understand that college officials will use the information submitted to determine and verify eligibility. You are also certifying you understand that you will be responsible for providing changes to any of this information, that the information you provided is complete and correct, and that you understand and will comply with the meningitis requirement and residency oath. If you're ready to check that electronic signature box — Woohoo! — you may save and continue.
Congratulations, you have arrived at the final step! After you hit the “submit my application” button you are going to see your Application for Admission Results. This page will either be a special processing message or a Letter of Acceptance. If you get a message that starts with “unfortunately," don't worry! This is your stopping point, but it does not mean you were not accepted. Write down your application number located at the bottom of the page and contact your high school counselor and or Dallas College at DualCreditECHSSupport@dallascollege.edu. And if it is a letter of acceptance, keep going! There are a few more things to do.
First write down your Dallas College ID number, and then, use it to set up your econnect. After that, your final task is the TSI pre-assessment activity. For more information on these steps, please search ‘set up econnect’ or ‘tsi pre-assessment’ on the Dallas College website.
Well, that’s it! You’re on your way to becoming a Dallas College Dual credit student. Thank you and welcome! If you have any questions, just email: DualCreditECHSSupport@dcccd.edu or call: 972-669-6400
