About Lifelong Learning Classes
Lifelong Learning Through Continuing Education

These noncredit courses are ideal for students who want to expand their knowledge, develop new skills or pursue personal interests — without the pressure of grades, exams or long-term commitments.

Dallas College Credit Courses
Dallas College offers older adults aged 65 and up an opportunity to take up to six credit hours per semester using the Senior Tuition Waiver. While these classes often attract senior students, they are open to anyone who meets the course prerequisites and enrollment requirements. Senior adults also have the option to enroll in any open-enrollment Dallas College credit class.
Senior Tuition Waiver Eligibility Criteria
The Tuition Waiver Request (PDF - 79KB), provided by the state of Texas, is available to eligible students 65 years of age or older. It allows enrollment in up to six credit hours per semester, provided students meet the eligibility criteria, which include:
- Age 65 at time of registration (not first day of class)
- Texas resident for at least 12 months
- Current Dallas County resident with proof
- Non-degree-seeking status (The student is not pursuing a degree or certificate.)
- Not applying for financial aid
- Submit the Transcript Waiver Agreement (PDF - 364KB) to the Registrar’s Office, to be exempt from providing the college transcripts if attended other institutions
- Must meet Dallas College academic standards to continue eligibility
For students under 65 years old, standard tuition rates apply to all credit courses.
Third Attempt Rule
Another important item to note is third attempt fees that are issued to students who have taken a course more than three times; for guidance, see: Third Attempt Course Enrollment. To avoid any third attempt fees, students are encouraged to enroll in other open enrollment courses. We also recommend exploring our continuing education offerings as an alternative option for students who may not be able to pay for the third attempt registration fees.
Students interested in enrolling in credit-based courses using the Senior Tuition Waiver should contact the nearest Success Coaching (Advising) Center for support.
Please Note: The Senior Tuition Waiver only applies to credit-based courses and does not cover continuing education classes.
