Physics, the branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy, encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles. It explores motion, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms. The guided pathway in Physics will provide a foundation for you to move on toward a rewarding future rich in diverse discovery. An Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with courses in this pathway prepares you to transfer to the University of North Texas (UNT) to earn a bachelor's degree that opens the door to a career in just about anything.
This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Physics. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an A.S. degree, which will increase your chances of transfer to bachelor's level programs at UNT. Courses that complete the degree are noted below. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See the catalog for official degree requirements.
Visit www.dcccd.edu/transfer and select "Transfer from Dallas College," then click on UNT to view more information about transferring to that institution. Speak with your success coach to choose courses that will help you pursue Physics as a major at UNT.
