Exams and Licensing

Associate Degree Nursing

The ADN programs prepare graduates to be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN Examination to become licensed as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in Texas.

Licensed Vocational Nursing

Students who complete the LVN program and receive a Vocational Nursing certificate are eligible to take the Licensing Examination for Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN) in order to become licensed vocational nurse (LVN) within the guidelines set by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Patient Care Technician

This credential results in the acquisition of Patient Care Technician workforce skills for program gradutes and prepares candidates for successful completion of the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant exam (CPCT/A). Successful completion of the CPCT/A exam will result in eligibility to use the title Certified Patient Care Technician. 

​Length of time is based on catalog degree plans. Prerequisites may be required, which are not included in this estimate. For most programs, full-time student status is assumed, a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

 

Cost is based on tuition rates for program hours for Dallas County residents. Beginning in Fall 2020, the price of most required learning materials (books, software, supplies, etc.) will be included​ with the price of tuition. Find out about financial aid.
