One of the strategic priorities for Dallas College is to reduce income disparity in our communities by
targeting
underserved populations and individuals by providing educational opportunities leading to high-demand jobs.
South Dallas has limited resources for educational and career training, along with few facilities to
address basic
needs for living. Dallas College will identify and deliver entry-level training options for
middle-skills employment
in high-demand career pathway sectors of manufacturing, health science, information technology,
transportation,
aviation, and distribution and logistics along with flexible and responsive training that can evolve
and adapt to
the workforce needs in south Dallas.
Dallas College is committing $5 million to the startup and annual operations for this project to lay the
foundation needed to bring these services to the area and build collaborative partnerships with United Way
and Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas for the center.
While Dallas College is investing a sizable amount to provide services and training opportunities in the
southern sector, additional philanthropic support and sponsorships are needed to create the transformational
change this community desperately needs. Dallas College is seeking partners to assist in the first three
phases of building a foundation to sustain the classrooms, lab training, and wrap-around services in a
three-year growth project timeline. Specifically, funding is needed to support the following:
