Dallas College is proud to offer its Military Connected Services (MCS) program, dedicated to supporting
veterans,
active duty military personnel and their families in achieving their educational goals. This national model
of
support provides academic assistance, job opportunities and mental health resources.
MCS is seeking support for its spring Military Connected Services Week:

- SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society Induction Ceremony
- Day of Service
- Battle of the Branches
- Veterans Day Celebration
Your sponsorship will help MCS continue its mission of ensuring the success of military connected students
and
veterans.
About Military Connected Services
The Military Connected Services program serves:
- Veterans of all branches of the U.S. armed forces
- Active duty military personnel stationed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area
- Spouses and dependents of veterans and active duty personnel
These individuals are highly motivated and possess valuable skills and experience gained through military
service. By
supporting their education, you invest in a dedicated workforce ready to contribute to the local economy.
MCS offers a comprehensive range of support services, including:
- Admissions and enrollment assistance
- Financial aid guidance
- VA benefits navigation
- Academic advising and tutoring
- Mental health and wellness resources
- Career counseling and placement services
Military Connected Week
On average, 81% of students who participate in Military Connected Student Week report an increased sense of
belonging
with the Dallas College community.
An average of 78% of students developed a deeper connection because of Military Connected Week.
Last year, a total of 272 students checked in at events hosted during Military Connected Week.
Throughout MCS Week events are held at multiple Dallas College campuses.
MCS Week Highlights
Veteran Resource Fair
- Resource Tables: Military-connected vendors and organizations offer information and
resources
tailored to veterans and military connected students.
- Networking Opportunities: Veterans and students connect with representatives from
different
organizations, fostering valuable relationships and support networks.
- Ceremony: Honoring and recognizing the service and contributions of all veterans.
- Interactive Engagement: Opportunities for students and veterans to engage with vendors,
ask
questions and receive advice and support.
- Resource Materials: Brochures, flyers and other materials that veterans and students
can take
with them for future reference.
SALUTE Induction Ceremony
- Recognition of Academic Excellence: Celebrates the dedication and hard work of veterans
who
have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Ceremonial Induction: Formal induction into the SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society,
recognizing students’ academic and personal achievements.
- Certificates and Awards: Presentation of certificates and awards acknowledging inductee
- Family and Friends: We welcome family and friends to share in the celebration and
support the
inductees.
- Networking Opportunities: Inductees connect with fellow honorees, faculty and community
members, fostering a supportive network.
- Refreshments and Fellowship: An informal reception for inductees and ceremony
attendees.
Day of Service
- Community Engagement: Students participate in activities that support Dallas College
Lifelong
Learning program, fostering intergenerational connections.
- Games and Activities: Encouraging interaction and fellowship between students and older
veterans.
- Honoring Veterans: Special recognition and appreciation for the contributions and
experiences
of older veterans within the program.
- Fellowship: Opportunities for students and veterans to socialize, share stories and
build
relationships in a relaxed and supportive environment.
- Refreshments: Socializing over food and drinks to create a welcoming atmosphere for all
participants.
Battle of the Branches
- Obstacle Courses: Students compete in physical challenges to test strength, endurance
and
teamwork.
- Branch Representation: Participants represent different military branches, fostering
pride and
friendly rivalry.
- Food and Music: Refreshments and music to create a festive atmosphere.
- Resource Tables: Dallas College resource tables to provide information and support for
- Prizes for Winners: Awards and prizes add excitement and motivation.
- Community Building: The event encourages camaraderie and connection among students,
veterans
and the college community.
Veterans Day Celebration
- Tribute: Inspirational speeches from veterans, Dallas College leadership, and staff to
recognize the contributions of veterans.
- Community Involvement: Participation from students, faculty, staff and community
members to
show support and appreciation for veterans.
- Refreshments and Socializing: Food and drinks create a welcoming and festive atmosphere
for as
attendees.
