Admissions

Prospective Dallas College students must complete an application through ApplyTexas.

Use your full, legal name on all documents you are sending to the college/university:

  • When completing the application, DACA recipients may enter their given Social Security Number; undocumented students may leave this field blank
  • Please read and carefully answer questions relating to the following areas: birth location, citizenship status, residence status, and length of residency in Texas

In Texas, non-U.S. Citizens can be classified as a Texas resident or non-resident for tuition and financial aid purposes:

  • This allows students to be eligible for in-state tuition and Texas State financial aid
  • Eligibility is based on how long a student has lived in Texas:
    • The requirement is “residing in Texas” for 36 consecutive months prior to the date of high school graduation or issuance of Certificate of High School Equivalency (CHSE) plus 12 consecutive months prior to the census date of the starting semester
    • Because we have rolling starts with various census dates, we look back 12 months from “now”

Note: Information given on ApplyTexas or to Dallas College is strictly confidential per FERPA. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act protects the privacy of student education records.

DACA recipients and undocumented students must submit this affidavit to the admissions department. The document simply states that the student has lived in Texas for 12 months prior to graduating from high school or completion of a GED and will file an application to become a permanent resident at the earliest opportunity for which they are eligible.

  • The affidavit must be notarized by a notary:
Public notaries are on staff at all Dallas College locations providing services to students free of charge.

  • For students graduating in the most recent year, unless proven otherwise, the 12-month requirement is proven by the 36 months shown on the transcript itself.
  • For students who graduated in an earlier year, the 12-month documentation may be lease agreement(s) or any bills/statements for 12 consecutive months showing the student’s name and Texas address.

If you need any assistance in the application process, please contact our College Coaches.

Dallas College has an open-door admissions policy. Anyone who can benefit from post-secondary education may enroll.

Texas state law permits undocumented students, who are or who will be graduates from a Texas public or accredited private high school, to be classified as residents of Texas for tuition purposes under certain conditions.

To be considered a resident of Texas for tuition purposes, you must:

  1. Have graduated (or will graduate) from a public or accredited private high school in this state or received the equivalent of a high school diploma in this state, including the successful completion of a nontraditional secondary education, AND
  2. Have maintained a residence continuously in this state for the thirty-six (36) months immediately preceding the date of graduation or receipt of the diploma equivalent, as applicable; AND the twelve (12) months preceding the census date of the academic semester in which the person enrolls in an institution.

If the person is not a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident of the U.S., the person shall, in addition to the other requirements of this section, provide the institution with a signed affidavit (commonly known as the Noriega affidavit), stating that the person will apply to become a Permanent Resident of the U.S. as soon as the person becomes eligible to apply.

Affidavit of Intent – SB1528 aka Noriega

The affidavit must be signed in the presence of a notary public. Services are provided free of charge to Dallas College students at each campus.
