SEMESTER-BY-SEMESTER MAP FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS

This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Environmental Sciences. Following this pathway will help you earn an AS degree, which will increase your chances of transfer to bachelor’s level programs at UT Arlington. Although there may be several options to fulfill certain requirements for the associate’s degree, please note that this pathway lists the specific courses leading to this bachelor’s degree. All plans can be modified to fit the needs of part-time students. This is not an official degree plan. Refer to catalog for official degree requirements. You must receive a GPA of at least 2.00 on all college-level course work. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. SEMESTER 1 (Total Hours: 13)

  • ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a (CB 010) Core course. Must earn a grade of “C” or higher.
  • HIST 1301 – United States History I This is a (CB 060) Core course.
  • EDUC 1300 – Learning Framework All college students with fewer than 12 semester credit hours of successful college credit (grade of “C” or above) must take a student success course in the first semester.
  • CHOOSE ONE:
    • BIOL 1406 – Biology for Science Majors I OR
    • CHEM 1411 – General Chemistry I Prerequisite of MATH 1314, or equivalent academic preparation, prior to enrolling in the course. OR
    • ENVR 1401 – Environmental Science I OR
    • GEOL 1403 – Physical Geology These are (CB 030) Core courses. There are several options to fulfill this requirement. Contact your academic advisor for a specific list. Please note: Transfer admissions to UTA requires a minimum 2.25 GPA on all academic coursework; grades of D or lower do not transfer. Students who successfully complete the core curriculum at Dallas College as noted in this pathway plan before enrolling at UTA will be considered core complete if certified as such by Dallas College; core complete students will not need to take coursework to complete UTA’s core curriculum.
