About the Program

Dallas College mission is to transform lives and communities through higher education. Our Student Care Network is looking to onboard students who are currently pursuing their degree in social work or counseling to help carry out our mission.

Dallas College Student Care network partners with prestigious universities to provide students with internship opportunities. Below are the universities affiliated with our internship program. If your university is not listed, please contact us with your interest as we will explore the possibility of affiliating with them.

Responsibilities

You will be asked to understand the overall concept of Dallas College, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service.

You may intern with Student Care Network teams including CARE Coordination, Basic Needs and Resources & Connections, or Counseling and Psychological Services.

You’ll be asked to work directly with the students at Dallas College and handle a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Completing tasks aligned with Student Care Network responsibilities.
  • Spending approximately 60% of the time allocated to direct client contact; 40% supervision, training, case management, and administrative duties.
  • Accepting designated, psycho-education projects to research, propose ideas, plan, and deliver.
  • Engaging with customers or clients and providing service or programming.
  • Providing suggestions to supervisor for improving customer service and internal processes.
  • Learning and becoming proficient on internal software systems.
 

Qualifications

Undergraduate or Graduate students (Bachelor’s degree seekers or Master’s degree seekers) for Social Work interns under the CARE Coordination or Basic Needs and Resources & Connections

Graduate students (Master’s degree seekers) for interns under the Counseling and Psychological Services department

 

Work Hours and Benefits

  • 15 to 20 hours per week.
  • Reports to assigned supervisor and program task manager.
  • Work directly with the students at Dallas College.
  • Uncompensated internship
 

Location

Dallas College is one of the largest community college districts in the state of Texas, composed of seven large campuses and satellite locations.

Interns will have the opportunity to select one of the 7 campus locations that are closer to them. Some activities during the semester will take place in one of the satellite locations but most of the time interns will work out of their selected campus.

 

Important Dates

For Fall semester internships: Applicants must apply before the Monday of the 2nd week of August.

For Spring semester internships: Applicants must apply before the fall semester ends in December (before the campus buildings and offices close for the holidays).

Summer - No new interns will be accepted for the summer semester. If an intern who is doing a split internship began their internship with us in the spring semester they can continue for the summer semester.
