Accessing and using the virtual desktop on campus. In this video,
you'll learn how to log in to the virtual desktop environment,
navigate the virtual desktop interface, and close the virtual desktop
safely.
Logging into the virtual desktop. To sign into the virtual desktop
environment, click Accept on the welcome screen. On the Microsoft
sign-in page, enter your E7 student email, then press Next. When the
Dallas College sign-in dialogue appears, re-enter your E7 student
email and your password. Click on the sign-in button. Once you have
signed in, you will see a functional Windows 11 desktop that is ready
to use.
Please note, if you forget or need to change your password, the
tutorials for online tools are available to show you how to change or
reset your password. Your E7 and password is required to access the
workspaces, remote applications, and the full Windows desktops.
Navigating the interface. The virtual desktop environment contains a
workspace with a Windows 11 desktop that is designed to meet the
requirements of specific groups of students. Depending on where in
Dallas College you sign-in, the library or specific classroom, the
appropriate workspace for that location will load. In this example,
the general workspace is loaded, which is designed for all students
with basic remote applications.
The virtual desktop experience includes assistive technology
applications such as JAWS, a screen reader, and ZoomText, which allows
you to magnify specific areas of your screen. The Windows 11 desktop
automatically connects to your student OneDrive account so you can
save your work and access it again the next time you log in to your
virtual desktop. You can also access your work directly from the
OneDrive application using a laptop, desktop computer, or mobile
device.
With a full Windows desktop experience on campus, you can quickly and
easily use a variety of remote applications, sync your OneDrive
account, and print your work on campus.
Closing the virtual desktop safely. To exit the virtual desktop, click
the Start button. Then click on your name and select Sign Out. This
will log you out and ensure no one else can access your workspace and
saved files. If you have any issues, please contact the service desk.
