[music] In this video, we'll look at how you can use the Microsoft Teams app to collaborate with other students in your class or colleagues at work. In Microsoft Teams, a team is a set of people, conversations, files, and apps. The individual who creates the team is an owner, and an owner can add members to the team.
To view the teams you have joined, select the Teams icon on the left. You can choose between two layouts: grid and list. In grid layout, each team is represented by a tile. To work with a specific team, select its tile. To return to the grid, click All teams.
To change the layout, click the Settings and more icon and then select Settings. Under General Settings, select the Grid or List layout option. In List layout, all of your teams are listed in the panel on the left. The list remains available regardless of the team you have selected.
Teams are made up of channels. Channels allow team conversations, files, and apps to be organized by project, topic, or department. Each team starts with a channel named General, but additional channels can be added as a group's projects, tasks, and assignments grow. To work within a channel, navigate to the team and select the channel's name. The area on the right displays the channel's contents.
At the top, you'll see the channel's name and a set of tabs. Select the Posts tab to view the channel's conversations, start a new conversation, and post replies. The Files tab provides access to shared files. Files can be uploaded using the Upload command or by dragging them into the files area. Files can be created, edited, and deleted directly from within the files area. The third tab takes you to the channel's notebook. The tab’s name depends on the type of team that was created and the channel you selected. For example, it might be labeled Staff Notebook, Notes, or Class Notebook.
Your team permissions determine if you can see the Add a tab icon in a channel. If it is visible, use it to add tabs that provide access to other apps and files.
If you need to meet with your group, you can use the Meet drop-down menu to start a meeting or schedule a meeting. Again, your team permissions will determine if the meeting option is available to you.
So, next time you're working on a project or collaborating with a specific group of people, think about using a team in the Microsoft Teams app to work more efficiently.
