Future Dual Credit Students and Parents

T​he Dual Credit program at Dallas College offers qualified high school students an opportunity to earn college credit while completing high school requirements.

Many Dallas County public and private high schools* have agreements with Dallas College that provide scholarships to cover the cost of tuition for Dual Credit students.

What Are Dual Credit Courses?

Dual Credit courses are offered in a variety of subject areas including math, science, English, economics, history, government and a wide variety of technical courses.

Dual Credit courses are taught either at the college or at the high school. Courses are taught by college faculty or by qualified high school instructors who meet the same criteria as college faculty.

All students enrolled in a Dual Credit course at any of our partnering high schools should expect the same level of course rigor and student expectations that are placed on undergraduate students enrolled in the same course at Dallas College.

If you are interested in a Dual Credit course, check with your high school counselor for a complete list of available courses. Dual Credit academic courses are transferable to all Texas public colleges and universities and to some private and out-of-state institutions.

Who Can Enroll?

To participate in the Dual Credit program, you must:

• Be enrolled in good standing in 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade of a participating high school, private, charter or home school.
• Have approval from a high school counselor.
• Fulfill appropriate admissions criteria to the college.
• Meet minimum test scores.
• Submit required Dual Credit forms
• Use the enrollment checklist as a guide

How to Apply and Enroll in Dual Credi​​t

1. For registration deadlines for ECHS and P-TECH, please contact the Educational Partnerships office. Complete the High School Student Dual Credit online application.
   • High schools will receive a link to a pre-recorded application session.
   • ​When you sign up for your virtual session, you will receive application steps by email for the application session to follow along.
     
2. ​​​Submit required Dual Credit forms.
   • We will work with your high school counselor to collect all your documents by the deadline for Summer and Fall registration. Please be sure to confirm the deadline with your high school counselor or your Dual Credit advisor.
3. Get registered for Dual Credit classes.
   • Your college Dual Credit advisor will register you for Dual Credit classes. They will also follow up with your high school counselor to confirm you have been registered or to address any other concerns.
