Eligibility and Admission

The Texas A&M Engineering Academy is for first-time, full-time students and continuing students, who meet the following prequalification requirements:

  1. Applicant has earned a high school diploma o​r equivalent
  2. Applicant is ready for pre-calculus or calculus as determined by Dallas College. A student who has successfully completed college-level trigonometry and is ready for pre-calculus during the upcoming Fall semester may apply.
    1. A college transcript indicating successful completion (a grade of C or better) in trigonometry or pre-calculus
    2. A score of at least 620 in math on the SAT or a score of 25 in math on the ACT
      • Note: Texas A&M University will not require ACT or SAT scores for freshman applicants for Fall 2023. The submission of test scores will not create an unfair advantage or disadvantage for those students who provide them. However, ACT or SAT scores may be needed to determine prequalifications .
    3. Credit by exam (AP, IB, CLEP) for MATH 1316 or higher
    4. A valid score on an internal mathematics assessment test
  3. Applicants must not already have a bachelor’s degree or higher
  4. Applicants cannot be current or former Texas A&M students

  1. A cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or higher (including repeat courses)
  2. Applicant has earned a high school diploma or equivalent
  3. Enough core curriculum coursework to be co-enrolled for at least one year
 

Beginning Dec. 1, 2022, students are reviewed for prequalification. If a student meets the minimum requirements for the Academy (as determined by Dallas College), that student will receive an email notification containing the Texas A&M Engineering Academy application link.

Students should then submit the application and all supporting documents to the Texas A&M Office of Admission by June 1. Detailed information can be found in the Application Guide.

Successful applicants will receive an offer of admission from Texas A&M University to the Engineering Academy at Dallas College.

 

Admitted and Enrolled

Students admitted and enrolled in the Texas A&M Engineering Academy are both:

  • Engineering students in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University
  • And Dallas College students

Once enrolled, all courses must be completed through Dallas College and Texas A&M University.
