This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Construction Technology Commercial Construction Certificate with an emphasis in Plumbing-Commercial. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn a Level 1 Certificate in Construction Technology Commercial Construction. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. This apprenticeship program, through North Lake Campus' partnership with the Construction Education Foundation (CEF), has been nationally approved by the National Center for Construction Education Center and Research (NCCER). Graduates of this award will be prepared for employment as a journeyman craft person. Successful completion of the entire curriculum and coordinated on-the-job training prepares the student for the required county, state or federal examinations. The student will also acquire math, science, communications, planning, problem solving, human relations and management skills. Courses that complete the Commercial Construction Certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.

  2. Meet with a career advisor or coach to research your career options and opportunities for job shadowing.
  3. Meet with a faculty or career advisor regarding placement for the Cooperative course. Craft specific licensing exam may be substituted for CNBT 2281.
