This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Automotive Technology – Chassis Service Technician certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Automotive Technology – Chassis Service Technician Level I Certificate. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. The Chassis Service Technician program in Automotive Technology provides the skills you need to jump-start your automotive career. The certificate will prepare students for entry-level technician position diagnosing and repairing Brakes and Suspension problems. Courses that complete the Chassis Service Technician Certificate are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.

  • AUMT 1380 – Cooperative Education-Automobile Mechanics Technology/Technician
  • AUMT 2380 – Cooperative Education-Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology/Technician OR
  • AUMT 2328 – Automotive Service

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS

  1. Meet with your advisor to confirm your academic/career goals before the end of the semester.
  2. Meet with a career advisor or coach to research your career options and opportunities for job shadowing and for assistance in preparing for job search.
  3. Meet with a faculty or career advisor regarding placement for the Cooperative course, if needed.
