This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing Video Technology. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours (15 hours) required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. See catalog for official degree requirements.

The A.A.S. degree is designed to prepare students for entry level or advanced employment in the video industry. Opportunities in medicine, entertainment, advertising, industry, broadcast, cable, education, military, government, and business are among the career options. Courses that complete the degree also complete the and Audio Visual Specialist Certificate (C) and are noted below.

SEMESTER 1

RTVB 1305 – Introduction to Television Technology (Course also applies to C)

RTVB 1409 Audio/Radio Production I (Course also applies to C)

RTVB 2430 – Film and Video Editing (Course also applies to C)

ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a Core course. You must earn a grade of "C" or better.

FLMC 1331 – Video Graphics and Visual Effects I FLMC 1331 or RTVB 1345 or RTVB 1329 is required for the Audio-Visual Specialist Certificate. (Course also applies to C)

SOCIAL /BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE ELECTIVE* This is a Core course.

CHOOSE ONE: 

  • SPCH 1311 – Introduction to Speech Communication This is a Core course. OR
  • SPCH 1315 – Public Speaking This is a Core course.
