Accreditation
The Construction Management program in the Construction Sciences Division of Dallas College has been accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) since August 1992 and was the second two-year school accredited.
Mission Statement
Dallas College is a two-year public community college located in Dallas, Texas utilizing an open-door admission policy, anticipating and responding to the educational, training, and employment needs of the community. Located at the North Lake Coppell Center campus, the Construction Management Program is a practical curriculum preparing students for a wide variety of career options in the construction field. It has a combination of lecture and lab classes designed to provide an overall knowledge of the construction industry. The Program faculty all have real world experience, which they bring into the classroom to engage students and focus on management skills and ethics. The Program and service-learning opportunities prepare students for responsible citizenship promoting an understanding of their culture and environment, the development of skills in analysis, communication, quantification, and synthesis necessary for further growth as a lifelong member of society. The Applied Associates degree requirements and the ACCE requirements provide a broad-based educational experience for students. Dallas College requires 3 credit hours in cultural courses (art, music, literature, history, film, etc.) and 3 hours in self and society (geography, anthropology, psychology, economics, etc.) for all Associates degrees. Dallas College course offerings, and the construction management program promote characteristics attained not only through organized courses and programs, but also through a variety of social, cultural, civic, and other educational activities that are offered based on the needs of the community.
Program Objectives
- To provide commercial and residential builders with graduates that will function efficiently on the job site or in the office.
- To provide professional development training for those who are currently employed in the construction profession.
