To mediate court-appointed cases, the state of Texas does require a minimum of 40 classroom hours of training for individuals, with 24 additional classroom hours required to mediate cases involving the parent-child relationship, usually in divorces. Courses meeting these requirements conform to the standards set by the
Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable.
Two courses, Introduction to Mediation and Introduction to Divorce Mediation, satisfy the required minimum 40 hours to mediate in the state of Texas (each course actually provides 48 classroom hours).
Length of time is based on catalog degree plans. Prerequisites may be required, which are not included in this estimate. For most programs, full-time student status is assumed, a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
Cost is based on tuition rates for program hours for Dallas County residents. Beginning in Fall 2020, the price of most required learning materials (books, software, supplies, etc.) will be
