Virtual Evening Group Advising Sessions

Monday-Friday, 6 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.

Group advising is an essential component of student success. Group advising offers avenues of support that help students adjust to college life, reinforce and improve skills vital to persistence in college, and develop skills that support success.

More About Virtual Evening Group Advising Sessions:

  • Navigate – we will use the Group Advising appointment feature in Navigate EAB. (Choose the Success Coaching care unit, then specify the desired group option within the ability settings, which will allow settings of a maximum number of students per appointment, effectively creating a group advising session.
  • Students will be able to access a link on Dallas College website, Virtual Success Coaching landing page to sign up/make appointment for group sessions.

Your safety and privacy matters! In a virtual advising environment, it is important to take steps to ensure the privacy and security of your advising session. Please abide by the following for each virtual advising session:

  • Do not use the session while you are driving or where such use creates an unsafe hazard for you or others.
  • Join the session from a private location (away from roommates or in a public space where others may overhear your conversation). Without a FERPA waiver on file prior to the session, we cannot speak with your parents/guardians or others.
  • Please observe rules of “netiquette” and decorum, such as being respectful and avoiding interruptions during the session.
  • Have a headset with microphone ready (your cell phone headset will work great!)
  • Wear appropriate attire (think “No Shirt, No Service”)
  • To connect, you must grant permission to use the microphone and camera.

If students are NOT eligible for group advising, they will be directed to schedule an appointment for further assistance.
