The Mission of the Research Institute is to produce actionable research that informs and supports the postsecondary education needs of the Dallas College community.
Our Work:
Interactive Dashboards, Reports, Infographics and More
Through an innovative, robust, and equity-driven research agenda, the Institute focuses on access to education and the factors affecting postsecondary success. We also explore the social and economic value of a college education for our students and for our community.
The Research Institute aspires to produce impactful results that inform student-centered decision-making, both at Dallas College and at institutions across the region, state, and nation, through external communication of mixed methods research findings and analytical tools for leadership. We also aim to produce tools that empower advisors, students, and families to make informed decisions around postsecondary education and careers.
Much of our current agenda focuses on identifying student barriers to postsecondary success and on leading Dallas College to positively impact the Metroplex and help North Texas reach the goals of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board'sBuilding a Talent Strong Texas plan. Our research designs underscore the importance of collaboration across the entire education-to-workforce pipeline and of equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, income level, or generational status. Specific areas of research for 2023 include regional education attainment, return on investment, dual credit, the college-going rate, student debt, and long-term academic and workforce outcomes.
