Do you know what's at stake this November and how to make your voice heard on the issues facing our country and our community? It's easy. Your vote is your voice. Just show up and cast your ballot. Elected officials make laws that shape the character of our communities and our nation. Decisions at every level of government affect your day-to-day life, your job opportunities and your access to a quality education. Enormous challenges weigh upon our country right now. A global pandemic has killed thousands of Americans, and battles over social justice issues have spilled into the streets. How should our local, state and national leaders handle these crises? Tell them by making your voice heard and voting for candidates who support your values. Dallas College encourages all of our students, employees and community members to exercise their right to vote. On Nov. 3, elections will be held for president, U.S. Congress, the Texas Legislature, statewide offices and local governing bodies, including two seats on the Dallas College Board of Trustees. Make sure you're registered to vote. Research the issues and candidates on your ballot. Rally others to go to the polls. And then, most importantly, vote. Early voting runs Oct. 13 through the 30th. Many Dallas College locations will serve as a polling place. Make your voting plan now so you're ready to cast your ballot on or before Nov. 3. Use your voice and your vote to shape the future. See you at the polls. I'm Isaac Faz, chief legislative counsel for Dallas College and a proud alumnus. Our college approves this message. Will you join us?
